When your always looking for the "Next"

Happy Sunday to my beautiful blog fam I just finished my Yoga class was sitting taking some deep breaths and thought of this. Today I have a few questions I'm looking forward to the replies. It's the beginning of September officially school is in session and "Summer" as we know it is gone but how many of you already are...
-preparing for Halloween?
-thinking about your Thanksgiving guest list?
-Christmas shopping?

How many of you have entertained Tax refund talk?  Be honest, no judgment here today is about observation.

I wanted to bring this up because this past week between emails, grocery shopping and running errands for my baby #2 my grandma I ran into in some way, shape or form the above mentioned. When I did it really made my head spin and a sadness came over me. We are like machines, programmed to always look for the "Next".

The next hour, the next meal, the next season, the next event, the next vacation, the next holiday next next next.
Didn't we just get over a long Winter? Weren't we just celebrating 4th of July? Didn't you just get around to buying school supplies? Now your rushing through Labor Day and Halloween? Seriously? Why? What's the rush? What are you running to instead of being still in?

Have you ever even stopped to think of all you would have missed in your child's life if you were so quick to rush through that?
-first smile
-first baby steps
-first giggle
-first tooth
-the attempts at rolling over
-school plays
-sporting events
-first crush

In our lifetime with our children this list is endless and I know that for me I would have been crushed if I'd missed any such events so I'm sure it's pretty much the same for most parents. We want to be present, we want to show support, we want to love and care for our babies. But how true to those values are we in all other aspects of our lives? From the looks of things I see daily in so many different ways I am in doubt.

I'd like to challenge you to try to be in the moment, be present in whatever it is you are doing. Whether it's the laundry or making dinner. If it's watching a television program or getting your nails done. If it's walking to work or to your car....be in the moment. Life is not guaranteed anything can happen in a split second. If and when it does that "Next" won't matter.

Maybe these pictures will encourage you to try my challenge, had I not been in the moment I would have missed them. Hope you enjoy, I'd love to hear from you

Always stress free xo.

  2. Living in the moment - yes always...I try to tell the younger generation around me to just be concerned for today, not tomorrow, next week, etc. and don't wait till your older to do so. Great photos and great advice. Thank you too for featuring my post on Turn It Up Tuesday this week. Heather is such an inspiration to so many and I'm happy you picked her story to share with others and spread hope for those suffering with cancer.

  3. This is a beautiful post. I have also been thinking about this a lot lately. It's very easy to get caught up in thoughts of the future and lose sight of all the beauty that surrounds us in this moment, to overlook the lessons being presented to us...It's something I myself have been quite guilty of lately and it seems that it brings nothing but stress! Thank you for this wonderful reminder to remain present!

Thank you for sharing with us at #MommyMeetupMondays!

  5. Great post! I have definitely, not thought about the coming holidays! LOL! I have however thought about that refund check. :) Today has been all about the moment...the moments I was working hard at decorating my daughters cake, moments watching her face and all the wonder of turning 13, with presents and family time. I am definitely honored to have had these moments that I will keep close to my heart, as I hope she will, too. Have a great week!

  6. What a blessed post Mari! Thanks for stopping by Sunday's Best and linking up. I love this post because I have this problem some days - always looking toward the 'next' instead of being 'in the moment' and sometimes we ALL need these little reminders to bring us back to reality.
